Coldplay - Paradise
Is there anyone out there that hasn’t heard this song at least once yet? Coldplay has once again taken over the music world with their latest album, Mylo Xyloto.
Paradise is a really solid song, with the right amount of strings and chorus to make it perfect for getting stuck inside of your head for the next few weeks. Normally, I feel like all of this sound would make a song feel cluttered, but somehow they manage to pull it off perfectly.
P.S. I would also suggest watching the video. Who doesn’t love elephants?

Another of my credentials for writing Kanye West week? I’m pretty sure I launched a lucrative second career for Amy Sheridan, @kanyewest tweet embroiderer.
Etta James - I Just Wanna Make Love To You
In light of recent events I felt the need to pay tribute to the late Miss Peaches. The one word that always shows up attached to her name is ‘legendary’ and truly that voice of hers is stuff of lore. Her voice transcended genres from blues to jazz to pop and rock.
She is most well known for At Last, a song that we’ve all heard numerous times in movies and on the radio. That is why I wanted to post one of the songs you don’t get to hear all the time. I Just Wanna Make Love to You showcases the attitude she possessed that made her music so entertaining. The reason I love this song is because her voice can match the harsh sound of the trumpet and then turn silky smooth in a split second.
The world lost a legend today; you will be missed.

Winter Song - Sara Bareilles ft. Ingrid Michaelson
I thought this one was fitting for the time of year. Sara and Ingrid already have such wonderful voices alone, so what happens when you blend them together? Absolute perfection.
“They say that things just cannot grow
beneath the winter snow,
or so I have been told.”
EMS publicity materials presumably from around 1970.
- Top: the Synthi VCS3, the Synthi A, and the Synthi KB1.
- Bottom: the Synthi 100, aka the Delaware. “First customers include the BBC, Radio Belgrade, and the University of Wales.” According to Niebur, the BBC paid £5,400 for the Synthi 100 in 1970, which according to at least one calculator is equivalent to US$87,000 in 2011 money.
